CBHL was established April 2013 after separating from the parent company Glenroy Andrew Customs Services.  The company is strategically positioned within a 1 mile radius from the country’s second largest port, PLIPDECO. CBHL specializes in Import and Export procedures, Freight forwarding, Customs Consulting and hauling of general cargo. 

 

The business is also a registered Courier in Trinidad and Tobago. The business is the brain-storm of its two (2) partners who all maintain equal management and ownership status. Research has shown that there is a high demand for Customs Brokerage Services in Trinidad and Tobago.  

 

Couva brokerage House Ltd’s main objective is to fill that gap by introducing highly complementary specialized and innovative Customs Services, while providing a wide variety of related services such as courier services, foreign used car agent services and specialized courses for all Customs Clerks and the business community.

 

Couva Brokerage House Ltd main office is located at LP#50 Sanford Street East, California, Couva. This we believe is a strategic location that will attract both importers and exporters, as it is in close proximity to the Point Lisas Industrial Estate and PLIPDECO Port.  We cater for Manufacturers, traders, non-traders, and all other sectors both local and international.

STAFF

 

The company presently has a dynamic team of Customs Clerks and partnership with one Customs Broker. The team consists of apprentices, grade 1 and grade 3 customs clerks.

 

The business is owned and managed by its two (2) partners who functions as a ‘Team’ in a collaborative and cohesive organization framework.  Governance is shared equally. The Functional horizontal structure would allows for cohesion amongst managers with the clear understanding for the success of the business at its focus; while the Functional vertical style will be used between managers and employees of the various departments.

 

Ms. Donna Edwards – Director. Master of Business Administration degree

The partner has knowledge and understanding of financing, marketing, managing, controlling and leading.  She is a grade three (3) Customs Clerk with over ten (10) years experience in the field of Customs Brokerage.

 

Mr. Glenroy Andrew – Director. Customs Clerk grade three (3) with over thirty-five (35) years experience in the field of Customs Brokerage. He also has the experience of being a Customs Officer in our Caricom neighbor, Grenada. Mr. Andrew has a wealth of knowledge.  His dedication to his work allowed him to be the leader is today.

 

A Customs Broker with over twenty-five (25) years experience in the field of Customs Brokerage. He was actually taught by Mr. Andrew and was able to obtain his Customs Brokers licence many years ago.  While he is not an active partner in the business, our ability to conduct business as a Customs Brokerage company depends on him. He also has a wealth of knowledge that strengthens our company’s reputation.

 

Ms. Kaveeta Francis – Customs Clerk grade two (2) with over 10 years experience in the field of Customs Brokerage. She is excellent at preparing Customs declarations, classification and clearance of cargo. She is also very innovative and keeps herself up-to-date with changes in the Customs and other government agencies.

 

Our team of employees also consists of four (4) Apprentice Customs Brokers and one account. This team nine (9) aims to deliver excellence. We put our customers first and do whatever it takes to get the job done in a timely and cost effective manner while not breaking any rules.

 

Externally we aligned our company with KM Financials.  They are chartered accountants that are responsible for preparing our financials and auditing our accounts. We also have another chartered accountant onboard to conduct security checks, up-date and back up our accounting entries o a quarterly and yearly basis.

 

 

SUBSIDIARIES AND AFFILIATES

 

CBHL has entered into a partnership agreement with Central Customs and Trade Institute.  This partnership is geared at educating and enhancing the quality of work done by Customs Clerks presently.  An alliance was also formed with United Express International.  This alliance enabled CBHL to become a registered courier company. Presently we handle the distribution of newsletters, publications, catalogues and direct mail between United States of America and the Caribbean.  CBHL is also affiliated with Glenco Customs Logistics of Trinidad and Tobago.

The cosmopolitan culture in Trinidad recently experienced rapid growth in the economy which stimulated the desire for importing foreign products and increased exportation of our local products throughout the year. The new trend triggered the innovative thinking of two Customs Clerks to tap into the growing economy. Mr. Glenroy Andrew who is one of the directors, has over thirty five years experience in the field of Customs Brokerage, saw the need for innovation and radical changes in the Customs Brokerage market. This realization was influential in the conceptualization of the business. He was able to convince his partner Ms. Donna Edwards to invest in the venture.

 

 

Couva Brokerage House Ltd became the brain-storm of the innovative thinking of the partners.  The partners chose to establish a brokerage house with the aim of creating departments that would specialize in different aspects of Customs Brokerage.

 

Located at Lp no. 50, Sanford Street East, California, Couva, Trinidad, its strategic location will attract traffic on route to the Point Lisas Industrial Area. Additionally, it will be easily accessible to all importers and exporters in the south and central parts of the country.

 

 

We focus on providing our customer with up-to-date information which includes any changes is rates of duties, harmonized codes and international trade rules and regulations. We also seek the interest of our customers; meaning we do not allow them to be victimized in any way by the system. We represent them and ensure justice prevails in every situation or encounter with the Customs and Excise Division.
